First Light Flight

The albatross is my favourite seabird, and this one belonged to a flock I spotted while working offshore. It was a lucky capture in every sense. The boat was rolling, the light was low, and the bird was far off on a telephoto lens, all of it working against a clean focus.

Then the morning sun caught its face and lit it up against the dark, and every bit of the struggle was worth it. Some frames you have to earn, and this was one of them.

A frame that was earned, and a striking one to earn a place on your wall.

    • This frame is slightly deeper, 20mm wide and 30mm deep. The mat board in this size is also larger, with a 80mm bevel cut.

  • I print on Ilford Smooth Cotton Rag, a 280gsm archival paper, 100% cotton with a soft matte finish. It holds tone and colour beautifully and is made to last.

  • Each frame is handmade to order for me in Melbourne, in solid, sustainably sourced wood. Choose black, white or a natural wood finish.

    Behind the print is 3mm acrylic glazing rather than glass. It is clearer, lighter, more shatter resistant and offers better UV protection. The archival matboard is acid and lignin free, with an acid free, pH neutral backing to protect the print over time.

    D-rings and wire come pre-installed, so it arrives ready to hang. Frames are made and dispatched within 8 working days.

    The three finishes:
    Black. A slim black frame with a fine profile, quietly modern.
    White. A clean white frame that keeps all the focus on the print.
    Wood. A natural light oak style frame with a warm, timeless finish.

  • Every order is dispatched from Victoria with tracking. Interstate delivery usually takes 3 to 6 business days, and framed prints need around 8 working days to be made first.

    Prints A3 and under ship flat; A2 and the larger prints travel rolled in a poster tube. If anything arrives damaged or goes missing along the way, I'll replace it free of charge.

  • You have 14 days from when your order arrives.

    Prints and calendars can be returned or exchanged as long as they're in as-new condition, with return postage covered by you.

    Framed prints are made to order, so I can't take them back for a change of mind. If you'd like a different image in the same frame, though, I'm happy to swap it. You cover postage both ways and the change itself is free.

    If your order arrives damaged, none of that applies. I'll cover all the postage and make it right. To start a return, just send me an email.
